Shade grown in a bird-friendly environment, this natural bee-pollinated coffee has been handpicked, hand-washed and sun-dried to yield a unique flavour often touted as the healthiest coffee for people who want to limit caffeine without drinking decaf.
This speciality coffee has been carefully roasted to a medium/dark level to highlight its special characteristics. It’s a balanced, aromatic coffee with a well-rounded body. Citrusy and smooth dark chocolate intones merge with hazelnuts and caramel which linger long after the last sip. Subtle flavours of oak wood form secondary flavours on a well-rounded cup with a pleasant nutty aftertaste.
Popularly called ’washed arabicas’ these are certified by the Indian Coffee Board as Speciality Coffee, produced in India. While AAA is the highest standard for Arabica worldwide, these have been given the name of Mysore Nuggets Extra Bold specifically by the Coffee Board.
This coffee grown in the Chikmagalur coffee district has been harvested from a single estate situated at roughly 3500 – 3800 ft above sea level. Chikmagalur features some of the oldest coffee in the world with a lot of history and heritage mentioned in the public domain.
It’s shade-grown amidst lush forests of rosewood, red and white cedar, jackfruit, and numerous varieties of fig in addition to over fifty varieties of shade trees. The coffee estates are intercropped with orange, pepper, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and Garcinia. The dense forest environment creates a natural ecosystem resulting in healthy flora and fauna.
Naturally bee-pollinated, the estates ensure the minimal usage of fertilizers ( chemicals kill bees) with honey also harvested in plenty.
These coffees comprise a unique blend of Arabicas of the Brazilian Catimor, Gautamelan San Ramon, and Indian Selection 795 coffee variants. Trained women workers handpick these coffees ensuring that only the ripest fruit are picked. They are hand-washed, pulped, and sun-dried on open ground.
The roasting process in a state-of-the-art factory ensures the coffee is as perfect as nature intended it to be.Â
